UIC Transition Coaching (High School Partnerships)
High School Partnerships were initially established with two Chicago Public Schools (CPS) high schools in Spring 2015: North-Grand High School and Carver Military Academy. New high school partnerships include Chicago Math and Science Academy Eric Solorio High School, Fenton High School, Intrinsic Academy, and Nicholas Senn High School.
Transition coaching provides students with the opportunity to develop a positive rapport with their designated coach, or a coach within the Office of First-Year Initiatives.
UIC Transition Coaches work in a number of Chicagoland high schools to help prepare students for their post-secondary journey. Through frequent visits and workshops, Transition Coaches offer support in the following areas:
- College Match and Fit
- College Application review
- FAFSA completion assistance
- Scholarship searches
- Award Letter review
- Admissions checklist review
- UIC Summer College review
Additionally, Transition Coaches will continue to support students who attend UIC as they acclimate to the college landscape. Students will work with a transition coach throughout the academic year in order to promote and refer on-campus resources as well as further develop and enhance skills pertinent to academic success.
